The product
What is Skill Belt in one sentence?
One governed catalog of agent skills and MCP servers, delivered to whichever agent each person on your team actually uses.
Which agents do you support?
Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI and Gemini CLI today. Anything else that reads SKILL.md from a standard path will usually work; if yours doesn't, tell us which one and we'll say honestly whether it's on the list.
Is Skill Belt available yet?
Not publicly. We're building with a handful of design partners, and the pre-populated sandbox opens before general availability. The contact form is the fastest way onto either list.
Do we have to be on a paid Claude plan?
No. That is the point. Anthropic's provisioning console needs a Team or Enterprise subscription and only covers Claude; Skill Belt works from any install and covers four clients.
Who is the buyer?
A platform, ops or team lead with department budget. We are not selling to a CISO — that is a different product, and there are companies doing it well.
Pricing and billing
What happens at 50 people?
Invites stop and we talk. There is no overage bill and nothing breaks for the people already using it. Fifty is enough to run a real team and decide whether this is worth keeping, which is what this tier is for.
Is it per seat?
No. $99 is $99 whether you have four people or fifty — we are not going to make you decide who is worth a seat, because the person who never opens a pull request is exactly who this is for. The cap is a ceiling, not a meter.
Why is there no free tier?
Because a free tier would tell us nothing. We are trying to find out whether this problem is worth money to anyone, and free answers a different question. The sandbox gives you a real org to poke at for a day without a card, which is what a free tier was doing badly.
Is there a trial?
The sandbox is the trial, and it is better than one — it opens full of skills, owners, groups, a pending approval and an audit log. If you need longer than a day, ask and we will extend it.
Do you charge for skills, versions or downloads?
No. Publish as many as you like and pull them as often as you like. Metering any of that pushes teams toward stale copies, which is the opposite of what we want.
What about agents and API keys?
Agent API keys with their own entitlement sets are an Enterprise feature and are in build. People are unlimited on Team today.
Can we cancel?
From the billing page, without talking to anyone. Your catalog stays readable for 30 days afterwards so you can export it.
Objections
Do we have to move our skills off GitHub?
No. Skills stay plain SKILL.md and MCP config stays plain JSON, and you can export the whole catalog whenever you want. Portability is the argument we're making, so locking you in would rather undercut it.
How is this different from the free sync tools?
Those solve copying. Skill Belt solves who-gets-what and who-changed-it. If everyone on your team should have everything and nobody needs to know when it changed, the free tools are the right answer and we'll say so.
What if Anthropic extends their console beyond Claude?
They have little reason to serve Cursor, but if they did, the CLI path still works. Claude Code's native marketplace is a convenience for us, not a dependency.
Can non-engineers publish?
That's most of the point. Authoring is a browser editor with a save button and a publish button, and diffs read as prose, side by side. Nobody opens a pull request to change a paragraph.
Is anything running in production yet?
Not publicly. We're building with a handful of design partners, and the sandbox opens before general availability. If you'd like to be one of them, the contact form is the fastest way in.
Scope
Will you build a runtime MCP proxy?
No. Sitting in the request path is a different product with different uptime obligations, and there are good gateways already.
Will you build an AI skill-authoring assistant?
No. Every product in this category ends up building one, and it never becomes the reason anyone buys.
Will there be a public marketplace of third-party skills?
No. Skill Belt is your team's private registry. Nobody browses it but you.
Can agents edit skills themselves?
Not in the first version. It's a genuinely good idea, and it needs the approval model to be solid first.
